2008 FALL BALL

Fall Ball is a shorter season, focusing on fun, and improving skills, for both beginners and experienced players. This is also a great opportunity for young women to advance their skills and learn new rules if they will be moving up a level next season. Girls will play at the level they will play NEXT year (based on their age as of 12/31/08). Fall Ball season will run from August 17th thru September 24th.

All games will be doubleheaders and will be played on Sunday afternoons. There will be no games over the Labor Day weekend. The State tournament will be played September 23-24, which will be all day with pool games and bracket play. If you are interested or if you have questions, please contact loridelay@mchsi.com. We need to know asap which girls will be playing Fall Ball so we can determine if we have enough players to field teams

FastPitch Time Commitments

10U: The season begins the first week of May and will run through the state tournament in mid-July.  Teams will play a doubleheader each week, and will practice one night during the week.  Occasional additional practices may be called by the coach.  The teams may play in weekend tournaments, the league qualifier and the state tournament.  If the team qualifies for a national tournament the team will determine if it will attend.

12U& 14U: The season begins the first week of May and will run through the state tournament in mid-July.  Teams will have two game nights per week consisting of doubleheaders. Occasional additional practices will likely be called by the coach.  The team will play in 3 or 4 weekend tournaments, the league qualifier and the state tournament.  If the team qualifies for a national tournament the Blue team is expected to attend.

For both 10U/12U teams, a round robin batting order, where all players bat, is used during league play.  Players will play a variety of positions, however at the Blue level, some specialization may begin to occur, and overall playing time will be balanced during the season.  At the 14U Blue level, greater position specialization occurs, however, players may still play a variety of positions.  In tournaments coaches will play the players in the positions that give both the player and the team the best chance of success.  Our coaches seek opportunities to place girls in positions where they can be successful.

YOUTH SOFTBALL (K-3rd Grade)
