Become an OSA Board Member!

Dear Parents of 10U Travel Softball & In House Machine Pitch:

I am writing this note to you to ask you to please consider joining the Orono Softball board for the 2017-18 seasons (Jan–Dec calendar year). Orono Softball is a parent led association that coordinates and organizes softball for girls Kindergarten through 14U.   We currently have 100 girls in our program which encompasses both a travel program geared for girls eligible to play 10U,12U,14U competitive softball and a K-3 travel lite program which provides the basic fundamentals in a low key environment designed to prepare girls for our competitive travel program.  Many of our players continue on to play high school softball and some have received scholarships to play at the college level.

Our association is made up of parents just like you who volunteer their time to make sure the program remains strong and the girls have all the necessary tools to make their development and growth possible in this sport.

Our board is comprised of  8 -10 positions:  President, Secretary, Treasurer, Website Coordinator, Program Director, Player Development, Equipment Coordinator, K-3 Program Director, Fundraising.  We usually meet monthly during the year for about 90 minutes to plan and coordinate the season.   A typical term lasts 2 years.

As with any board connected to children, as our children get older, our board must change over.  We are in need of 3-4 new board members who have younger children in the program to step in and volunteer.  It is a rewarding experience and a great way to help in ways other than coaching.    With 8-10 members we try to minimize the amount of time commitment needed in each role.   Plus, we have fun at our meetings as they are usually conducted at McGarry’s in Maple Plain!

If you are interested in joining or would like more information please contact me or any of the current board members whose contact information can be found on the website.

On behalf of the current OSA board we appreciate your consideration and support.

Sincerely,

Molly Stern

OSA President
