The purpose of the Orono Softball Association is to provide opportunities for young girls in PreK through high school to participate in recreational and competitive softball programs during the summer and fall seasons, and off-season training during the winter. The association will focus on sportsmanship, fundamentals, teamwork, and having fun, along with building self-esteem, relationships and confidence at all age groups and levels of skills; all while adhering to their OSA Bylaws and Policies.
OSA Travel Fastpitch Softball
OSA strives to provide opportunities for personal growth and development of youth athletes while also reinforcing self-confidence, self-esteem and the ability to excel on and off the field. Through participation, OSA is dedicated to educate and motivate each player while encouraging teamwork, community involvement, sportsmanship and fun through the spirit of fastpitch softball.
Spring/Summer Travel (8U, 10U, 12U) teams play double-headers during the week against other west Metro teams. They also participate in 3-4 weekend tournaments, including State Qualifier and State tournaments.
Fall Ball Travel (8U, 10U, 12U) is a great opportunity for the girls to practice the new rules as they move up to the next level of softball. Practices are during the week with double-headers on the weekends and concludes with a state tournament. The season runs from mid-August to the end of September.
PreK-5 Travel-Lite Softball
The Travel-Lite Program strives to provide a learning environment for the basic fundamentals of softball while also providing an enjoyable experience combining sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendship.
This program is available to girls in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade and games will be played against other local west Metro teams (hence Travel-lite).
PreK and Kindergarten girls play Coach-Pitch/Tball (D1). First, second and third graders (depending on their birth year) play Machine-Pitch softball (inhouse 8U) and participate in a tournament at the end of the season. Third, fourth and fifth graders (depending on their birth year) participate in Player-Pitch (inhouse 10U) and also participate in an End-of-Season tournament.
